Mabou silks
These hand painted silk scarves are each one of a kind. Their designs are inspired by the sea and sky, hills and meadows, sunsets and wildflowers, and especially by the figures of lively Cape Breton square dances.
I fold, clamp, stitch, and/or scrunch the scarves and apply dyes with a brush or squeeze bottle. These scarves have a loose, improvised, and contemporary style. The colours are permanent and the scarves are easy to care for. A pleasure to wear in all seasons, these scarves are affordable luxuries and make wonderful gifts.
The scarves shown below are available for purchase. Please click on any of the small images for a larger view and more information. Prices are in Canadian dollars (about the same as U.S. dollars). Scarf sizes are either 8 x 52", 14 x 59", or 13 x 69".
