Where is Mabou, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia?

Nova Scotia is a province in eastern Canada and Cape Breton Island, connected to the mainland by a causeway, is called “Nova Scotia’s masterpiece.”  The friendly village of Mabou is located on the western coast of Cape Breton, south of Inverness.  It is just over three hours to Halifax International Airport and two hours to Sydney Airport.  Mabou is famous for its music and the Red Shoe Pub and has some excellent inns, bed & breakfasts, and restaurants.  Besides my studio, there are many other wonderful things to do and see in Mabou and Cape Breton Island.

To get to my studio from mainland Nova Scotia:  Cross the causeway to Cape Breton Island; take Route 19 north toward Inverness.  You’ll reach Mabou in about 50 minutes.  As you come into Mabou, you’ll cross a large river.  Take the next left at the sign for St. Mary’s church (which is Mabou Harbour Road), and go straight for about 7.2 km (4.5 miles) to 1422 Mabou Harbour Road.

To get to my studio from northern Cape Breton:  Turn off the Cabot Trail at Margaree Harbour (Route 219 to 19) or Margaree Forks and follow Route 19 to Mabou.  After you pass the Red Shoe Pub, take the next right at Mabou Harbour Road (also a sign for St. Mary’s church), and go straight for about 7.2 km (4.5 miles) to 1422 Mabou Harbour Road.
